Teknoware was awarded the option order for the M8 fleet manufactured by Kawasaki Rail Car Inc. M8 cars are electric multiple-unit cars, which are used on the New Haven Line of the Metro-North Railroad.

The option order consists of 60 additional cars. These cars are supplementing 405 M8 cars which were introduced from 2006 onwards. Teknoware’s scope of supply includes all the interior lights, toilet lights, emergency lighting systems, exterior headlights, exterior marker lights, exterior auxiliary lights and exterior indicators for the trains, with all the products being manufactured in Teknoware’s factory in Conway, South Carolina.

Deliveries began in late 2018 and there were discussions on a possible option order of an additional 34 cars, which could extend the deliveries further.
